This is example Optima Compact Watch Link Remover Tool for Metal Watch Bands #55-082 comment from customer : I bought this knowing that it was cheap, but I just wanted to size a few watches and was willing to take a chance on it. Worst case scenario was a return and refund. It is pretty cheaply made and not great quality, but for what it is it gets the job done. I think I sized watches for me and a couple of friends with it about 10 times, and it’s still working. The number one thing to know about this tool is that you have to go very slowly with it because it’s hard to see how the pin on the tool lines up with the hole and pin on the watchband. Once you’re sure it’s lined up properly, turn it very slowly. Don’t be hasty. If you aren’t a patient person then this is definitely not the tool for you and you’ll likely mess up your watch band or break the tool. A tool like this could be used by anyone because it’s simple, but it would be helpful if you are a handy person and if you can anticipate how to not scratch up your watch. You should probably also look up some info on the internet or somewhere else about the different kind of link-locking mechanisms there are for watch bands. Some watch bands have extremely tiny cylinders that lock the pin into place, and if the tiny cylinder accidentally drops and gets lost then you are totally out of luck for the future use of at least that one link (unless you get a replacement cylinder somewhere).

To operate this tool you’d need to turn the knob very slowly and just a little at a time. Turn it a half-turn and then check your progress. Keep at it slowly. If you get in a hurry and goof up you’ll just end up taking as much or more time as you would if you had gone very slowly and done it right the first time. There are no instructions for the tool, and the bottom part is so discreet that unless you’re near-sighted and look at it closely you might not see that there is a “hidden” compartment” in the bottom of this super-small tool. If you pull off the bottom it reveals 2 other pin-tools…the same type of deal, just smaller and bigger diameter pin-tool thingies. For me this item was well worth the money considering that I didn’t have to go hunting down a watch repair person. I should note, however, that this tool is so cheaply made that it still seems easily twice as expensive as it should be. It has no good value on its own, but it is valuable if a person needs to size more than one watch and doesn’t want to pay someone else to do it.

Review #2 : Link removal tool – R. Morton – Virginia
I knew the watch I was getting my wife would need one or more links removed so I ordered this tool at the same time. It worked easily and quickly.

Review #3 : Limited use. – E. Pruitt – U.S.A.
If watch band is thick there is no up or down adjustment to line up the pin with the pin in the band. Works good with regular bands that are not thick.
